Rape of Lucretia was the first opera I had ever designed. I learned a lot in terms of how traditional opera tends to address sound effects, in that they are often part of the score or music. I had a couple sound effects one in particular that was specific to this production and the use of lightbulbs and our necessity of smashing one during the show. Other than that my main aim was creating a crisp and even balance between singer and orchestra with the use of area mics and spot mics in the pit. Below is my lightbulb smashing effect and to the left is a link to my mic plan for the pit.
